Epidural Steroid Injection (ESI) for Thoracic Pain Treatment

Thoracic Epidural Steroid Injection Animation:

Thoracic epidural steroid injection (ESI) is a thoracic pain treatment administered to relieve pain in the mid-back and shoulder blade area caused by pinched or inflamed nerve(s) in the thoracic spine. Conditions such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis or arthritis can compress nerves causing inflammation and pain. The epidural steroid injection (ESI) treatment for thoracic pain is injected into the surrounding area to help decrease swelling of the inflamed nerve(s). Although uncommon, the thoracic epidural steroid injection treatment risks may include infection, allergic reaction to the medication, spinal headache, nerve damage and prolonged increase in pain.
