Tenotomy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the tendon. Using ultrasound imaging, a needle delivers ultrasonic energy to the area and is designed to break down and in some cases, remove damaged tissue without disturbing the surrounding healthy tendon tissue. A small bandage or steristrips will be applied to the treatment area. The procedure decreases pain and increases mobility. The procedure typically requires a two to four week recovery period to resume normal athletic activities. The procedure takes approximately 20 minutes from cleansing the area to bandage placement. It may be suggested that you wear a brace after your procedure for up to 2-4 weeks. Please follow your physician’s recommendations.
